My Favourite Food Courts in Bangkok While Living There – A Local Food Court Guide

During my stay in Bangkok, I explored almost every food court in the city. I did not have a kitchen in my room in Bangkok, so I often went to local food courts nearby to have lunch or dinner almost every day. Within my limited budget, it will give me endless choices of spicy and delicious Thai dishes. The variety is incredible, from flavorful soups and fresh seafood to rice served with Thai-style curries, Pad Thai, and stir-fried noodles. Many food courts also offer Western, Japanese, and other international cuisines. It’s something to add to your Bangkok to-do list — a perfect way to experience local food culture alongside both locals and fellow travelers.

Terminal 21 Food Hall – My Go-To Spot for Cheap & Tasty Meals in Bangkok

Terminal 21’s food hall — also known as Pier 21 — is one of my absolute favorite places to eat in Bangkok. Located on the top floor of the Terminal 21 shopping mall (right at the Asok BTS and Sukhumvit MRT junction), this place is a true gem if you’re looking for healthy, safe, authentic, and super affordable food. Here is a picture of what I usually get in the Terminal 21 food court. The food costs around 60 Baht, including drinks and a side dish with a main course.

What I loved most is how it’s always buzzing with locals, especially office workers and students grabbing a quick, tasty lunch. You’ll find everything from noodles and rice dishes to mango sticky rice, Thai soups, and endless traditional options — all at prices that are hard to believe. Most dishes cost just 35–60 THB!

Stalls offer Indian, Japanese, Mexican, and even Western food options, so you’re never short on variety. The whole space is air-conditioned with plenty of seating and a clean, modern vibe. It feels really comfortable, especially after a hot day out in Bangkok. Since it’s inside a shopping center, you get a more hygienic dining experience, away from street heat and fumes, but still full of authentic flavor.

To buy food, you’ll need a Pier 21 food card. Just head to the counter at the entrance, load some money onto the card, and use it to pay at the stalls. Don’t worry — you can return the card and get any leftover money refunded before you leave.

Emporium Food Hall – Thai Street Food Dine with a View in Bangkok

Emporium Food Hall is located on the 5th floor of the Emporium shopping center, right by Phrom Phong BTS. Like many food courts in Bangkok, customers need to buy a value card from the cashier counter (just at the entrance) to pay for food. You can top up any amount you wish and use the card at all food stalls. Any unused balance can be refunded.

This food court mainly serves classic Thai dishes — think of it as an upgraded version of Thai street food in a cleaner, air-conditioned space. The taste is still delicious and authentic, but you get the comfort of a relaxed indoor setting. Besides Thai cuisine, you’ll also find cafes, patisseries, and food stalls offering Japanese, Indian, and Arabic dishes. While Thai food prices here are usually very affordable, international options like Japanese or Arabic cuisine can be a bit more expensive. One special part of Emporium Food Hall is the seating area at the far end of the space. It features large windows with a stunning view of Bangkok — a peaceful green garden with a small pond. It’s a rare find in a busy city like Bangkok and makes your lunch or dinner feel a little extra special.

⏰ The food court gets very busy during weekday lunch hours, especially between 12:00 and 1:30 PM. It’s best to go before 11:30 AM or after 2 PM if you want to avoid the crowds.

Siam Paragon Food Court

Siam Paragon holds a special place among all the mega shopping malls in Asia. This luxurious shopping complex in the heart of Bangkok is a complete package — filled with high-end brands, international restaurants, one of the world’s largest aquariums, and a top-class movie theater. Naturally, it doesn’t compromise when it comes to food either.

The Siam Paragon Food Hall is located on the ground floor of the mall and is directly accessible from the BTS Siam station. After exiting the train, just head straight down and you’ll find a vibrant mix of sit-down restaurants and a separate food court area. The restaurant zone offers an impressive variety of international options, including some of the best Mexican food in town, as well as Indian, Japanese, and Western cuisine. You’ll also find well-known fast food chains such as KFC, McDonald’s, Burger King, Subway, and Au Bon Pain. There are plenty of bakery shops, dessert cafés, and ice cream parlors to satisfy your sweet tooth too.

Because Siam Paragon is a luxury destination, the food here can be a bit pricier than in other Bangkok malls, but still very affordable compared to Western standards. Considering the quality of the food, the cleanliness, and the relaxing ambiance, it feels like a great deal. In a separate section of the hall, there’s also a more traditional food court offering a variety of Thai-style dishes like noodles, soups, and rice with curry. It’s a perfect spot for a quick, authentic, and affordable Thai meal.

To buy food from the court section, you’ll need a Siam Food Hall card, similar to what’s used in Terminal 21’s food court. You can load any amount of money onto the card, use it to pay at each stall, and get a refund for any remaining balance before you leave. If you’re staying in Bangkok for a while, it’s convenient to keep the card for future visits. You can recharge as much as you want on the card to spend and get the rest of the money back when you return the card. If you are staying long time in Bangkok and planning to visit there often then keep the food hall card until your stay.

Thonglo Sukhumvit 38

Thong Lo Food Court at Sukhumvit 38 is a favorite spot for Thai food lovers, especially those looking to enjoy authentic local flavors in a casual and lively setting. This open-air food court is known for serving a wide range of traditional Thai dishes, including flavorful soups, noodles, various types of curry, Thai-style salads, and, of course, the beloved mango with sticky rice. I often order my favourite dish, Pad Krapao Gai, and stir-fried spinach when I am visiting this place. The vendors here offer plenty of variety, especially seafood options, and the whole experience is perfect for anyone who wants to explore the true essence of Thai street food.

The food court is located just next to the Thong Lo BTS station, on the west side, at the beginning of Sukhumvit Soi 38. It sits on the ground floor of a mansion-like structure. As you walk in from Sukhumvit Road, you’ll notice a food lane on the right-hand side filled with colorful street food carts and stalls. Simply choose your meal from your preferred vendor, then grab a table and enjoy your dish in the middle of the lively atmosphere.

It’s a great place to not only eat but also feel connected to local Bangkok life. While the environment can be a bit chaotic at times, that’s part of the charm. Prices are reasonable — typically ranging from 80 to 220 baht per dish — and the casual setup makes it easy to hop between vendors and sample different flavors.

W-District

W-District is a trendy open-air food court in Bangkok that brings together a mix of global flavors, artsy vibes, and a relaxed hangout atmosphere. Located just a 5-minute walk west of Pra Khanong BTS station, it offers a variety of food vendors serving everything from Thai and Japanese to Greek, Italian, Mexican, and even French cuisine. It’s a great spot to chill out with friends in the evening, try a variety of international foods, and soak in some creative local energy, including occasional live events and art installations.

From the outside, it’s easy to miss that there’s a lively food court tucked away here. After passing the ROOM Condominium, walk into the compound and you’ll instantly find yourself in the middle of the food court. Once you grab a table, someone will come around to take your drink order. You can choose anything from bottled water to a large beer tower or a freshly made cocktail. A mojito, for example, costs around 150 baht.

When it comes to food, you’ll need to walk up to your chosen vendor to place your order. Then, just head back to your table and relax — they’ll bring the food to you and you can pay directly when it arrives. On average, dishes cost between 150 to 250 baht, depending on the cuisine. The setup is casual and social, perfect for spending a laid-back evening with good food, drinks, and great company.

MBK Food Island (National Stadium BTS)

MBK is one of the oldest malls in Bangkok and is still a favorite among locals for budget shopping and eating. The food court, known as “Food Island,” is on the 6th floor and offers Thai staples like pad see ew, spicy basil chicken, and tom yum soups. The prices are reasonable, ranging from 50–90 THB. It’s a bit more local and less touristy than other food courts.

📝 Tip: Visit during off-peak hours for better seating and fresh food.

SOOK Siam & Food Republic at ICONSIAM

ICONSIAM is one of Bangkok’s most stunning riverside malls — a perfect mix of luxury, culture, and great food. It offers two different food court experiences that are both worth a visit. On the ground floor, SOOK Siam recreates the charm of a traditional Thai floating market, complete with beautifully decorated stalls and regional dishes from all over Thailand. The setup is vibrant and immersive, making it not just a food court but also a cultural experience.

A few floors up, you’ll find Food Republic, a more modern-style food court with international food options in a clean, stylish environment. It’s ideal if you’re looking for a mix of Asian and Western dishes, along with plenty of seating and a relaxed atmosphere. Prices in both areas range from 100 to 300 baht, depending on what you choose — a little more upscale, but worth it for the experience. It is great for sightseeing and eating in one spot. You can explore Thai heritage, shop luxury brands, and eat your way through regional specialties — all in one place.

Or Tor Kor Market (Kamphaeng Phet MRT)

Or Tor Kor Market is a true local gem! While it’s not a typical mall food court, this market is famous for its amazing ready-to-eat Thai dishes made from fresh, high-quality ingredients. You’ll find everything from perfectly grilled meats and sticky rice to spicy papaya salad, fresh seasonal fruits, and traditional Thai desserts. The variety and freshness here make it a fantastic spot to enjoy authentic flavors in a clean, vibrant environment.

Prices at Or Tor Kor are a bit higher than typical street food, usually between 70 to 200 baht per dish, but the quality and taste make it well worth it. If you’re exploring the nearby Chatuchak Market, Or Tor Kor is definitely a must-visit for a delicious, authentic Thai lunch.

These food courts became part of my everyday joy while living in Bangkok — simple, flavorful, and full of life.
